Have you ever wished that video games were sopping wet and got water everywhere whenever you played them?

Well, Wetrix is just that. It's a super SOAKED puzzle game, similar to Tetris, but instead of dropping blocks you raise and lower terrain to create lakes: so not similar at all. However, that is beside the point, because Wetrix is a super unique puzzle game that you're sure to be suprised by.

I'd describe the gameplay as chaotic, but fairly simple once you get a grasp on what is actually going on. You have an isometric view of a clean, flat square. Indicators begin to fall from the sky called 'uppers' and 'downers' that raise and lower the terrain. They come in different shapes, and where they land determines what happens to the land underneath. Once a few uppers have fallen, blobs of water will follow after. Now your job is to create lakes, while preventing water from leaking over the edge. Water that falls goes to the drain meter. If the meter fills, the game ends.

The game has several modes: Classic, practice, pro, challenge, and handicap. I recommend starting out with practice mode to get a grasp on what this game is actually about before moving to classic. I personally find that classic is enough of a challenge for me, but if you're one of THOSE people, you're more than welcome to try pro and challenge mode. I tried pro and couldn't even last more than thirty seconds... So good luck with that.

The graphics are simplistic and nice to look at; And they don't really need to be anything more than that. Since the game is based around water, it only makes sense that the water is nice to look at, and has fun animation. I feel the need to point out that those who aren't fans of COLOR may find this game to be TOO colorful. Not a problem for me personally, but I feel like I should point it out. I believe I may have spotted some new ones in there at some point.

If you're looking for a sopping wet puzzle experience, I highly recommend you check out Wetrix. The game released on N64, PC, Dreamcast, and Game Boy Color; Though, I recommend grabbing the Dreamcast version if you can, as it features better graphics, more game modes, and the ability to change camera angles. N64 and PC are also fine ways to play, but I believe that the GBC release is more of a novelty compared to others.
